Oregon Tech invites applications for an Information Technology Consultant 3 in the Information Technology Services department within the Office of the President. This is 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) position located on the Klamath Falls, Oregon campus. The starting salary range is between $48,936.00 and $74,639.00.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to serve as a liaison between administrative, auxiliary and academic organizational units, technology teams, technology vendors, and support teams to enhance the delivery of technology and business related services. The Consultant plays a vital role in evaluating technology to match users’ business process needs with the broader enterprise system requirements to ensure effective integration and processing flow along all points. Essential work as a project administrator also includes establishing goals and metrics, and completing tasks necessary to further utilize technology systems that benefit the entire University.



The Information Technology Consultant is responsible for initiating and managing major or complex technology and business related project plans and schedules; determining requirements, tasks, work assignments, resources, and project milestones; and reviewing points for all information system projects to ensure timeline adherence. The Consultant’s responsibilities alsoinclude assessing administrative, auxiliary, and academic operations to identify areas of potential improvement related to the quality and productivity of existing IT systems and processes;developing proactive approaches; and making recommendations to administrators for new and revised IT systems and processes.

The Consultant also provides leadership for managing Ellucian CRM software upgrades by monitoring and tracking newly distributed versions; communicating with users to assess the impact of new versions on business processes; and establishing and implementing effective testing of operational software prior to implementation. In addition, the Consultant is responsible for investigating new technologies and their practical application;and advising administrators on the impact of new systems and services using one’s knowledge of technologies, and developing cost-benefit analyses fornew acquisitions.


Information Technology Services is responsible for the development, implementation and operation of information technology systems and communications networks for Oregon Tech.   • This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience. For examples of typical skills for each core function, please visit
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form.


  • Experience with Ellucian software extremely desirable
  • Experience using database scripting tools (e.g. SQL Develolper, etc.).
  • Experience with FAST Millennium software extremely desirable.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and facilitating and negotiating their requirements.
  • Experience working as an information security auditor.
